10 things to do – for your skin

  1. Get your makeup off every night. No excuses. Learn to clean your makeup away properly – just quickly rubbing your face with cleanser and splashing it away with water isn't going to get it all off.
  2. Wash your makeup tools regularly. Don’t forget your powder puff either. I wash my foundation brush every time before using it. In this way it’s always clean and a bit moist so that it will not waste any product.
  3. Change up your pillow cases as often as you can. Once a week is good. If you have very oily skin and hair (and if you use a lot of hair products) you may want to do it even twice a week.
  4. Drink a lot of water. Eat healthy. Don’t smoke or drink alcohol. Don’t eat junk food. Sugar is one of the worst things you can do for your body and skin. Fruits, vegetables and good oils are amazing for your skin.
  5. Use as gentle products as you can. Using harsh products for minor acne may cause you more problems in a long run than they will solve momentarily. Go as natural as you can.
  6. Protect your face from the sun. You will thank yourself doing that in 10 years. Best thing to do is to hide your face by using a hat and big sunglasses. Don’t ever let your face burn. Burning your face just once will leave permanent damage on your skin.
  7. Use sunglasses (and eyeglasses if you need to).
  8. Don’t squeeze your pimples. Touch your face always with clean hands and do it as little as you can.
  9. Take some days off from the makeup. Weekends are good for that.
  10. Exercising outdoors, without makeup on, is the best (and free!) treatment you can do for your skin. Go to the woods – they are full of oxygen and trees will protect you from the sun.

step by step quide: how to wash makeup brushes

I wash my makeup brushes once a week. Foundation drush I wash every time before the use! Damp brush woun't waiste so much product. My brushes are mostly natural bristles, so I wash them with shampoo. Think of it - shampoos are gentle enough for your hair, so surely they are good enough for your brushes. They are also designed to clean up dirt and oils, so they are perfect for brush cleaning. You can even treat your older brushes with conditioner once in a while. Brushes you use for water proof liners has to be cleaned first with waterproof makeup cleanser.

So let's start:

Wet your brush. When your brush is wet, handle it always brush down position, so that the water will not get to the handle. Water can weaken the glue holdin the bristles and also rotten the wooden handles.

Put some shampoo on your hand and roll your brush around it with round swiping motion. Be gentle with your brush, don't push the brush too hard against your hand.

Rinse untill there is no more shampoo coming out from the brush. Repeat if you can still see some makeup coming out from your brush when rinsing.

Squeeze water out from the brush and style it in it's shape. Bigger face brushes you pull gently into their shape.

Lay the clean brushes while still washing the others on your sink or on the top of a folded towel. Remember not to place them brushes up when they still are wet.

After washing your brushes, let them air dry on the top of a folded towel. I don't believe drying your brushes with brush guards - I think those things give good conditions for bacteria growth.

When washing, don't let the water shower to go on the handle (red line):

Don't treat your brushes too roughly. Swipe, don't push.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector - B.B. Cream

Where? I bought it from my grocery store.

Price? Around 13 euros from 50ml of product.

What it promises to do?

What I think about it?

Texture is creamy, thick and feels really moisturizing on my skin. Even though it is 50ml tube (foundations are usually in 30ml tubes), I feel like this is going to be finished up much quicker than my usual foundation which is much more liquidy consistency and therefore easier to apply. This product has really strong scent and it will linger around quite a while. This product evens out my skincolor pretty well, but my under eye area still needs concealer. This will not cover red break outs or other more visible skin flaws. "Good skin days" I haven't really needed a moisturizer under this cream. I have a dry skintype so most of the days I will use my regular moisturizer under this. It will stay on my skin pretty well throughout the day. It will gather on my dry spots a bit. Especially because the shade is too dark for me. Because the dark shade I have to apply it carefully and blend it well on my neck.

Why I like it?

It actually makes my skin look prettier - healthy, glowy and moisturized. Many foundations just offer coverage, but they will not actually make your skin look better. The other thing I like is the extra moisture it offers my skin.

What I don't like about it?

The scent is strong. Really strong. Because the lightest shade is too dark, I feel like I need to see too much effort for this kind of product, which should be easy and quick.

BB voide?

In my opinion - not really. More like tinted moisturizer.

I would recommend this for?

People who like natural look. Normal to dry skin types. I think this could be great for moms and students, who like to make some effort but are too buzy to put "full face on". If your skin is more normal, this also can work as combination product - no need for moisturizer.

I wouldn't recommend this for?

Oily skin types. People who are sensitive for scents. People with very light skin. People who like matt finish and full coverage.

Fit me! concealer

Few weeks ago I needed to get a new concealer. I use concealer mainly under the eye area and sometimes on my nose, so it will go through really slowly. I don't really conceal my break outs. I want them to breath and heal naturally.

My old concealer was from Maybelline's Pure Cover minerals line. I liked it well enough to try another concealer from Maybelline:

I think I like this Fit me! concealer even more than the mineral one. It's especially good for under eye area, because of its' moisturising consistency. I feel like those thick, dry and pasty concealers brings out my fine lines too much.

I picked out the wrong color though.. I ment to buy number 15, but I got number 10. But it's ok.. This one works as well, so no harm done.

So thumbs up for this concealer from me!

Dove go fresh body lotion - just don't bother!

picture from: here

This "beauty body lotion" promises to give 24 hour moisture, a cool feeling on your skin and a fresh scent. This lotion is for normal skin (does normal skin need a body lotion one might ask...).

Ok, so let's start on positive note. The scent actually is refreshing (cucumber & green tea). It is pretty strong, so you go from there. I like it anyway. I don't feel like the cooling effect is so strong but it feels nice - and again refreshing - when applied. But...

I always put my lotion after the shower, so I don't really feel like benefiting the "cool sensation". I feel nice and fresh already. The worst thing anyway is that I feel like this lotion actually makes my skin to feel more dry!! After using this one week my skin started to flake pretty badly. I have no idea how can this be, but thats what happened. I feel like summertime my body is normal to dry. I want to apply some lotion because after the shower my skin feels a bit tight. Sure my elbows and knees can be a bit more dry. For sure the promise of 24 hour moisture is absolutely false in my books!

So for everyday lotion this is no go for me! Used once in a while for extra freshness this can be ok. Especially if you like the scent. I have been using this up by mixing it with some olive oil.

Clinique - airbrush concealer 01 fair

I bought this concealer because I saw Lisa Eldridge using it in many of her tutorials. If SHE uses something, it must be great - right!?

"airbrush concealer illuminates, perfects"
"Allergy tested. 100% Fragrance Free. Ophthalmologist Tested."

Yes, I like this concealer a lot. It has very thin consistency. It doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. And this fair color is really fair, so illuminating effect actually happens. It doesn't have any sheen if you wonder. This concealer dries matt. The coverage is pretty good but if you have to use corrector it's ok too. This is such a light concealer that you can layer it with other things.

Few negative things as always. This is purely under eye concealer. You can't cover redness or spots with this. If you have very dry under eye area, I wouldn't buy this. You also have to also work one eye at time, because the product dries pretty fast.

Main thing why I love this product is that it doesn't collect into my fine lines. (Of course you have to apply it carefully and tap it in with your fingers. )
